I was ten getting on for eleven in 1968 and the big event for me in May of that year was Cardiff City playing SV Hamburg in the European Cup-Winners Cup semi-final. So it's good to read some sober and honest analysis of that year from Fred Halliday rather than the over-rated nostalgia on offer from many of the superannuated ultras.

I drew Greece in the Assembly Labour Group sweepstake. They won in 2004, but they are in the same group as Spain who I think might do well this time.

Terry regularly returns to Clydach Vale where his mother grew up to support the Cambrian Village Trust. There is some footage of his most recent visit here.
The Trust was formed in 2000 with the aim of promoting sport in the area for both children and adults. It was also a founding member of the Communities First Partnership in Cwmclydach.
Terry launched a CD on football training paid for by Arriva Trains. More than 100 primary schools throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf are to benefit from the educational CD.
Speaking on behalf of the Trust, Phil Williams (him with the moustache) said: “Our main objective in producing the CD is to help children at Key Stage 2 to develop skills in four areas of the national curriculum – maths, geography, history and grammar. We used football as the general theme, which will help the children learn in a fun and interactive way. It also has the benefit of being available in schools, youth clubs or at home”

I attended the open meeting which agreed to set up the Supporters' Trust last Saturday. It was a very good meeting with a lot of sensible questions being asked.
Well done to all those involved.

I got to Ninian Park about 7.00 am.
At 9.15 I was in the Bob Bank queueing: my mate Aled is an hour behind me, somewhere in the Grange End. He is somewhere in this picture I snapped about then.
I got my tickets just before 1.00. Aled got his about 2.00.
You have to be an early bird to be a bluebird!

BBC Wales has just confirmed that the High Court judge has ruled that Cardiff City does have a defence and therefore he has rejected Langston's demand for a summary judgement.
Good news for the rest of the season - no administration.

The judge is due to give his verdict in the case with Langston at 2.00.
Meanwhile, the open meeting of Cardiff City fans to discuss setting up a Supporter's Trust takes place at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Sophia
Gardens at 11.oo on Saturday 29th March.
Click on the leaflet to enlarge it. There is more information here.
A lot of work has been done by a small but dedicated group of fans including Paul Corkery and many others familiar from the Mike Morris message board. I attended the first two open meetings before Christmas, and you can find the details here and here.
I'm pleased that I was able to persuade the Wales Co-op Centre to offer help in getting the Trust up and running, and they have given great support through Geraint Jones.

Forty years ago Cardiff City played in a semi-final - against SV Hamburg in the European Cup-winners Cup, and I was there in Ninian Park for it. I was ten years old. Former Sports Minister Alun Pugh was behind the same goal as me at the Grange end, we both discovered thirty-five plus years later. I'd been at the quarter-final when we beat Torpedo Moscow as well.
I'm planning to be at Wembley next month too. Bluebirds!

I watched Ton Pentre beat Cambrian and Clydach 3-0 in the first local derby game last Wednesday night. Ton's first goal came from this penalty.

I'm biased, of course, but I thought the BBC made the wrong call yesterday. While Radio Five Live had excellent coverage from Chasetown, just think what live TV coverage of the game would have meant for the club - probably £300,000 in revenue which would have helped Chasetown with their new stadium and their other ambitions.
It's not as though the Villa-Man U match was a great game either for most of the 90 minutes.
